Pay safely
Before you pay
- Never pay an inspection fee. The Oyo chapter of ERCAAN says it does not recognise inspection fees.
- Ask for the full 'total package' in writing (rent, agency, legal, caution, service charge) before paying.
- For land, do a title search at the Oyo State lands registry and use your own lawyer before any payment.
- Inspect the property or plot yourself, more than once.
- Pay into the landlord's or the company's account, never a stranger's personal account, and get a receipt.
